This is Silan’s first presentation.
Hi, my name’s Silan and I’m going to talk about bones. Did you know that babies have more bones than adults? When you’re a baby, you have 306 bones. As you grow up, your bones form together. So, when you’re an adult, you only have 206 bones. When you break a bone, the part that’s broken will swell on the outside after a few minutes. You’d have to get to hospital where doctors will put a cast on where the break is. I’ve broken my arm in two places and chipped my ankle. Vitamin D is good for our bones. Bones make red blood cells every day. Mushrooms have vitamin D in them. You can buy vitamin D tablets at chemist stores. There are 27 bones in your hand. You have 3 bones in your thumb, 4 in each of your rest fingers and 8 in your wrist. You have 8 bones in your skull. The biggest bone in your body is the bone in your thigh. It is called the Femur. Did you know that there are five different sections of the spine? The top part is called the Cervical, the second part is the Thoracic, the middle part is the Lumbar, the forth part is called the Sacrum and the very last part of the spine is called the Coccyx. Our collar bones support our shoulders. If you break a collarbone, it would hurt (Of course) . Your bones don’t move by themselves. They are connected by muscles. Every time you move, say your leg, your muscles pull and relax, and your bones move with them.
( I learnt about the human body in term 2 last year)
